Who Can Get IVF Treatment?

In our country, where 1.3 million babies are born each year, in vitro fertilization applications have become quite widespread in recent years. In vitro fertilization treatment is one of the assisted reproduction methods that enable families who cannot have children for certain reasons to have healthy babies through “in vitro fertilization” technology. In Vitro Fertilization, in other words, is the continuation of pregnancy in the mother’s womb by placing the embryo(s) obtained by fertilization in a laboratory environment into the uterus.

In Vitro Fertilization, which was first applied in England by Edward and Steptoe, is today widely used in many patients and for various reasons. When we say in vitro fertilization or IVF, we mean combining the sperm taken from the man with the eggs taken from the woman in a laboratory environment and placing them in the mother's uterus after a while after fertilization has taken place.

This method is successfully applied in IVF centers in our country. Many centers provide services at world-class quality.

Who Can Get In Vitro Fertilization Treatment? Who Is This Application Suitable For?

  • In the case of infertility, a structure that occurs before the formation and development of male or female gametes are completed normally.

  • If both tubes are blocked,

  • In people with ovulation disorders

  • In women, patients with a complex disorder resulting from abnormal functioning of the ovaries and some secretory glands due to hormonal imbalance.

  • Endometriosis is when endometrioma, the inner lining of the uterus, is found outside the uterus, especially in the ovaries, the inner lining of the abdomen (peritoneum) and, rarely, in other parts of the body.

  • If there are very few sperm or few eggs,

  • If the woman is older, IVF treatment can be applied to women who can undergo microinjection .

Can IVF be performed on women who have had one or both of their fallopian tubes surgically removed?

IVF can be applied to patients who have had one or both tubes removed due to any surgery. IVF has nothing to do with the woman's fallopian tubes, or tubes. For this reason, IVF can be applied to patients with or without tubes, and the pregnancy success rate is the same. Patients with one tube can also have their pregnancies through normal means.

Can IVF treatment be applied to women who have had their ovaries surgically removed?

A woman who has had one right or left ovary surgically removed is suitable for IVF treatment if her hormone reserves are in good condition. Patients with one ovary can also have a normal pregnancy. A woman who has had both ovaries surgically removed is not treated with IVF treatment. Eggs cannot be obtained from such patients and their hormone levels are also insufficient. Therefore, they are not suitable for this procedure with today's technology and medical conditions.

Can IVF treatment be applied to women who have had their uterus surgically removed before?

No, it is not applicable. In in vitro fertilization, just like in normal pregnancies, the baby develops inside the mother's womb.
