The Effect of Smoking and Alcohol on Infertility

Smoking and alcohol use make it difficult to get pregnant naturally, and if you do get pregnant, it can lead to miscarriage.

Smoking has negative effects on male reproductive health. Men who smoke a lot of cigarettes, such as 1 or 2 packs a day, are more likely to experience deformities and anomalies in their sperm.

At the same time, it has been recorded as a result of studies that alcohol also causes very obvious negative effects on sperm production. Women and men who are smokers are also at risk in the in vitro fertilization method, causing the desired success not to be achieved.

It has also been revealed as a result of research that women who are addicted to smoking have at least 2 times less chance of getting pregnant with the help of IVF treatment than women who do not smoke. It is very important for expectant mothers who want to get pregnant with IVF treatment to quit smoking and drinking alcohol at least 2 months before starting treatment and not even stay in an environment where smoking takes place.
