Long Protocol in IVF Treatment

If couples who have not been able to have a child for a long time want to have a child and decide to see a doctor, the first specialist doctor they should go to should be an IVF doctor. The doctor first gets detailed health information from the couple. Previous tests and examinations are reviewed and examined. Additional tests may also be requested. In addition, consultation from genetics or other specialists may be requested.

Afterwards, a baseline ultrasound of the uterus and ovaries is used to obtain information about their current status. If any pathological findings are detected during the study, the IVF specialist creates the necessary treatment plan based on the results. He/she creates the treatment plan to be followed during the treatment period.

Is it necessary to suppress the expectant mother's hormones?

As with all IVF treatments, the first goal is to obtain a sufficient amount of quality egg cells. All of these cells are egg cells with a high level of fertilization ability. However, achieving this goal is not easy at all. Because our body is under the untimely and irregular effects of its own hormones. Experts eliminate these irregular effects by using hormone suppressing drugs. These drugs, known as GnRH analogs, are available as nasal sprays and injections.

Long protocol

The GnRH application mentioned above is started on the 21st day of the expectant mother's previous menstrual period. On the 3rd day of the upcoming menstrual bleeding, the blood test given by the expectant mother will determine whether the hormones are suppressed or not. If the estrogen in the blood is low, it means that the hormones are suppressed. After the hormones are suppressed, it is time for stimulation. Even if the stimulation treatment is started, the GnRHa application is not stopped. It is continued until the day the doctors notify. This process should continue until the day the trigger needle is given to the patient. Then, a protocol suitable for the patient is determined. In this protocol, the use of all the drugs you will drink is explained in detail. It is also given to the people in writing.
