How Many Days Does Menstrual Bleeding Last? How Much Is It?

1) How many days does menstrual bleeding last?

It is considered normal for menstrual bleeding to come regularly for 2 to 7 days. Menstrual bleeding lasting only 1 day is considered to be infrequent and the reason for it lasting 1 day should definitely be investigated.

The amount of menstrual bleeding is a situation that varies from person to person. It is also not easy to determine how much menstrual bleeding has come. If more than 5 pads are used during the menstrual period, this is considered excessive. If 1 or 2 pads are used during the day, then this is also considered normal. The most important detail in this regard is how many days the menstrual bleeding has continued.

Menstrual bleeding occurs on average every 21 or 35 days. However, it is not a rule that every woman will menstruate between 28 and 30 days. For this reason, menstruation between 21 and 35 days is also considered normal.

2) What should be the normal menstrual period?

It is a bit difficult to determine the amount of menstrual bleeding and to evaluate whether it is normal or not. The reason for this is that the frequency of changing pads is different for each woman. Some women are very meticulous and feel the need to change the pad immediately when they see a few drops of blood on it, while some women change their pads as little as possible in order to manage. For this reason, counting the number of pads changed during the day does not give a healthy result. However, while more than 3 or 5 pads during the day is generally considered heavy bleeding, if only 1 pad is enough during the day, this can also be considered normal. The main point here is that the menstrual period continues for at least 2 days.

3) How frequent should menstruation be, how often should menstruation occur?

There should be a minimum of 21 days and a maximum of 35 days between the dates when menstruation begins. Not every woman needs to menstruate exactly every 28 or 30 days. Periods between 21 and 35 days are considered normal. The main thing to pay attention to at this point is to determine the time period from the first day of one period to the first day of the next period when calculating this period. Days of purity between periods should not be counted.

4) How should the menstrual cycle be during adolescence?

It is very normal to experience irregular menstrual periods during the first menstrual period. After the first menstrual bleeding, there is no need for any intervention by doctors for 2 to 3 years. Because menstrual bleeding becomes regular on its own without any intervention. For this reason, there is no need for girls who first start menstruating to worry about irregular menstrual periods. However, in the event of heavy bleeding, the reason for the heavy bleeding should be investigated in detail and, if necessary, treatment should be started for the cause. If the bleeding lasts longer than 7 days and anemia develops due to the heavy bleeding, then it is considered that the menstrual bleeding is excessive.
